The DSM Bloggess

So there I am! Living it up in my 30-somethings with a ridiculously hot hubby, 3 seriously outgoing matter-of-fact smart beautiful kids, a cat named Roxii that just won't quit, 2 chihuahuas named Lokii (what was I thinking) and Brodii who don't understand the concept of pee outside.

I'm a strongly opinionated, outspoken, inappropriate and absolutely unapologetic chick going through this thing called life and trying to do it with my sanity intact. So far, this isn't working out so well!

Follow me as I confession myself straight to the LCBO. My rants, my way...you've been warned ;) Xo

Tis the Season...

Between packing, moving, unpacking (which still isn't done) and Christmas it has been one ridiculously cluster filled crazy month to say the least. Oh ya, and can't forget to mention that I started a job. I'm back working in retail...which I love and can't seem to get away from even when I try lol. A little something to keep my sanity! :)

I have to thank some friends for the pub night last night as it was nice to go and have a few drinks, eat some fairly decent food and swap stories about this whole Christmas shopping frenzy.

Sometimes it is impossible (well not literally but it sure feels like it) to buy for certain kids. The older they get, the more pricier things get BUT also the number of gifts gets less and yet they don't get that. There should be a book for kids that explains this lol. If it costs 10 times more than your sisters gift, then she's getting 10 times more gifts. Hmm...maybe I should start 10 months earlier this year. Eureka!!! (Crazy?)

I have been feeling very out of touch with a number of you, apologies for that, but life always gets crazy around this time of year, but add in the move and the job and it makes for an even more difficult attempt to get on here and update, let alone get some reviews done and contests going. But that said I have received all your emails and will get back to you one by one as quickly as possible I promise.

So lately as well I've spent some time reflecting on the last year, as most of you I'm sure do at some point as well, especially during this whole season of Christmas and New Years (resolutions to be made and broken anyone? ;) -- some within hours lol). I've also been enlightened to a variety of different things, some pretty bad, but most I have to say are REALLY good.

Learning that people don't change but you can/do, learning to really appreciate the foundations with real friends AND family that you have and not taking any of it for granted, learning that you can't make something that never was into something else and most of all that if you think long and hard about the situations and events and everything else that was there the whole time but for whatever reason you didn't notice, you can shrug it all off, laugh, learn and move on.

At the end of the day it really isn't me who is missing out. You can't force someone to change or think a certain way so give up (I'm a stubborn ass too so this takes a lot I assure you), smile, nod and put on some good music ;) The actions of others will not define me as a person, nor determine how my day is going to go anymore. I've got other fish to fry as someone keeps telling me (I hear you, I do...no really I get it!!! lol). If you want to be friends with me, then do it, don't hide it. Letting someone else make those decisions for you is beyond ridiculous. I've made my peace with apologies, blame, fault, just being an asshole in general and received little in return (gotta love family and friends) and that's ok as I don't have to live with that. Mistakes happen, but as long as you can be the bigger person and own your part in it, there isn't anything more you can do. There was more crap this year than I even want to admit, but family is family or as my little decal states "Family is Everything". I've had my share. I've laughed, cried, shouted, screamed, giggled, turned a blind eye, engaged in, stressed, been selfish (EVERYONE has) and hell I've even stomped my foot, but best of all I have said "Cheers" enough times to appreciate and love the bad with the good for sure.

Most importantly this year I have watched my kids grow. I have seen them develop their personalities a little more and I am so thankful that they are really well rounded and polite kids. Sure they have their moments, all do, but overall nothing but good feedback from friends and family and even from their teachers. It makes you proud as a mother to know that there is a part of you in each of them and you are very excited for their bright futures. I of course will thank their dad endlessly as I honestly have the perfect husband for me. He drives me insane some days, a few of you have heard me complain, BUT...once I get passed that moment of annoyance with whatever it is and I sit back I realize WOW...he's perfect. He is the most understanding, caring, amazing father a kid could ask for. He is the greatest and bestest friend anyone could ever want and I gladly and proudly call him mine. He takes all my bad with the good without judgement, he will tell me straight out I'm being the ass in any situation despite whether or not that is what I want to hear, and he keeps me grounded at the end of the day. I see him with the kids playing, sometimes right before bed getting them all psyched up and wild (thanks dad) and I'll get irritated and then think wait, how many others do that? how many others CAN'T have that? I appreciate him in so many ways. I appreciate my family and I adore my good friends.

Although I should be back to post again before the New Year, in the event that things get away from me again I am going to say to each of you that I genuinely wish you all a ridiculous amazing Christmas, a super fun as carefree as possible holiday vacation and a wicked Happy New Year. From my family to yours...
