The DSM Bloggess

So there I am! Living it up in my 30-somethings with a ridiculously hot hubby, 3 seriously outgoing matter-of-fact smart beautiful kids, a cat named Roxii that just won't quit, 2 chihuahuas named Lokii (what was I thinking) and Brodii who don't understand the concept of pee outside.

I'm a strongly opinionated, outspoken, inappropriate and absolutely unapologetic chick going through this thing called life and trying to do it with my sanity intact. So far, this isn't working out so well!

Follow me as I confession myself straight to the LCBO. My rants, my way...you've been warned ;) Xo

I'm fed up. And honestly I don't really care if you have a problem with it. This is my conclusion after quite a few months of being on hiatus and taking a really good look around.

...I'm a bitch who tells it like it is, I don't sugar coat anything because I'm REAL.

What I wanna know...do I need a tragic life story in order to get some attention from brands or "go to" people in this blogging industry?

Let me explain!

I frequent facebook, twitter and the blogosphere. I frequent them enough, even on a daily basis, to learn a variety of different things. While I do learn quite a bit one thing in particular stands out to me in a very obvious and offense way. Even in the land of blogging I cannot fathom the amount of "clique" that occurs on a ridiculously consistent basis.

What have I found? If you want to succeed you need to fall into 1 of these 3 categories (there were a few more but these are the most obvious)

1. You are a sad, depressed and completely miserable person whose only posts for any of the above mediums are ones that basically begin with "poor me"

2. You are some completely fake social media "expert" (and I use that term very very loosely), and of course it is totally a self proclaimed title

or another favourite that I must share :)

3. You are friends with a friend of a friend whose friend is the friend of the big wig at the friends cousins uncles best friends sisters business eight times removed from this point

Does this man look familiar to you by chance?

Let's take a look/see a few layers deeper and I'll explain how I have come to this conclusion.

Point 1: I find it ironic how a brand can ask for someone who just sends out complete bullshit, fuck my life, I'm a sad pathetic ass, poor me, I'm broke, tired, hungry and homeless person constant PAID reviews for their products/services.

Why? Because am I missing the point here or does this completely demean bloggers who bust their asses everyday promoting and sharing and blogging and tweeting and mouth of mouthing (lol I totally made that up) the hell out of the FREE reviews that they are doing because goddamnit they want recognition too and will certainly put in the time to hopefully one day get a paid review themselves. I'm not saying that these completely negative (and quite a few two faced - you know who you are) people haven't done the freebies themselves, but if you can track back their history and see that they haven't done much in terms of their fair share of product for service or free review cause some nice big company is asking you to work for free, but more and more as I (and quite a few others who just don't want to step up to the plate to voice their opinion for fear that their social media "clique" will abandon them) take a step back and see the blogoshpere for what it is, I'm absolutely pissed that these big companies...well, fuck it, small companies too, seem to think that because I'm not a broke ass, alcoholic, homeless person that I won't work as hard for them as these others ones do. Honestly, how am I supposed to when shit isn't being handed to me on a silver platter because they feel sorry for me. When is me time?

Point 2: I really shouldn't need to explain this one because it's obvious but for those that aren't quite sure let me just put it to you point blank. Those of us that are good enough to acknowledge online BUT...BUT cause it's a gigantic one, are NOT good enough to acknowledge face to face!!! Sure these events are big and busy and lots to do, but looking right at me, seeing my name tag and saying hey to the person standing next to me but not me...wellllllll really, go fuck yourself. NOTHING in this entire big world makes you any better than me, or the next person after me that has no idea that you are doing this to them next if not already.

Why? Explain to me the benefits and necessities behind being a complete bitch to someone that has done a lot for you and your "expert" image. I guess I should just be loud and proud that I can at least be who I am in person to EVERYONE and even to those that I don't know, while you keep walking around giving everyone some false impression that your shit don't stink and everyone loves you, cause really they don't. They are nice to you because they are hoping that you are going to be their "IN" to some next big event...only little do they know you'll shun their ass because they can't do nothing for you in return. Keep walking on all the little guys, because soon enough karma is going to find your ass sitting at home a has-been!

Point 3: Telling everyone that you know the head guy/girl at *insert some company here* doesn't make you cool at all when it's a complete crock of shit. You can be as Hollywood as you want but don't lie about it. And just because you are connected through 18 degrees of separation does NOT mean you are connect...you are probably more disconnected than you think.

Why? Why do I really care about whatever everyone else is doing? Well it's simple. It's making is nearly impossible to get "in" with anything. In you aren't in the cool "clique", don't fake your ass as far as you can, or kiss people's asses in order for someone to maybe hint at possibly passing your name along you get NOWHERE.

"It's not my fault the brand wants me" <-- really? If they actually knew that half the shit you pour out on your blog is a complete lie I wonder if they'd feel the same.

Stop shitting on the people that are putting the time and effort into wanting to really be connected and WORK FOR YOU and try giving other people a chance. If what I need to do is write a complete tell all about how shit my life has been and all the constant stress and dilemmas that I go through on a daily basis then fine, SIGN ME UP. I'll be sure to blog a copy, review a copy and hire on all these "cliques" to make sure that somehow, somewhere WE might get a chance.

As always, this is MY blog, MY view and MY way. You don't like it? Too goddamn bad. Go bitch and vent to one of your cliques and leave the real work to all the others TRYING to get their "in" as well. Yeah I'm bitching, so what, I've stood by long enough and listened to countless hours of people, even people you know that you think have your back and they don't, tell me how completely left out they feel no matter how good and how much value they can and have added to your brand. Open up your eyes...

It isn't the number of review a person has done, it should be about the QUALITY!
